I had the pleasure of photographing more of my good friend Toby today, this time outdoors in some gorgeous early-winter late-afternoon sunlight.
Whatley - Yellow Labrador | Guide Dogs for the Blind Puppy in Training {Davis Pet Photography}10/20/2016 A member of the Eyes for Others Yolo County puppy raisers club, a chapter of Guide Dogs for the Blind, Whatley is a sharp, fiesty one, but has a very sweet and mellow side as well. Six months old, I got to photograph her on one of her mellow days. The Yolo County Guide Dogs for the Blind chapter 'Eyes for Others' recently had a puppy social, a socialization and training event for Guide Dog puppies-in-training. As a part of their training, puppies must become comfortable and well behaved around other dogs and unfamiliar people in anticipation of their work with the Blind. Raisers from throughout Yolo County got together to give their charges some puppy play time and skills practice with other puppies in the club, as well older puppies and adult dogs within or familiar with the program and its tenets. Today I got to photograph a couple of snugglers. I've photographed Hugo and Roxy before, so I've gotten to know a bit of their personalities by now, much to my photographic enjoyment. Both rescue dogs, Hugo (top) is always on the lookout for a snuggle opportunity, preferably a belly rub. I caught him mid-snuggle plea in this shot, leaning his head forwards towards his dog-walker. Roxy (bottom), ever the prim and proper alpha, sat upright looking forward patiently under command.
Taken at sunset in Davis, CA. I got to shoot this cute little guy--Toby--shortly after a walk, so it was a mellow shoot, full of drowsy puppy-dog eyes and snuggling on the couch (which he has claimed as his own, make no mistake). Every animal has its own unique personality, and it was a pleasure to capture Toby's.
